Helping the Homeless

I'm so glad to have the opportunity to help the homeless in our area. No there aren't very many homeless, but even one is cause for concern. Thankfully our local churches of many different denominations have joined together to offer a warm place and a warm meal for the homeless during the winter months. Each church takes a week of time to offer these accommodations.

The churches themselves depend on people to carry this load. So I'm volunteering my time to help out. What a great opportunity to serve our fellow man/woman!
Check out your area to see if a similar program exists. If not then start one! Most churches are willing to help out and it's a commitment of only a week at a time. The more churches that help, the easier the load!

Daily stuff

I have fallen into the groove of things. Teaching 6th grade at home, getting the 4th grader off to school every morning. Trying to make time for the 3 y/o. Getting household stuff together like washing, cooking, cleaning. It fills up my entire day. No wonder I never have time for me. I like watching Stargate SG-1 episodes, but I feel like I have so much to do, I don't allow myself time to relax and watch the DVDs.
Plus, there's football practice to bring Jacob to in the evenings. And games on the weekends! Yikes, we need a permanent vacation!
Well no time to write more, I must be off!

Ok! It's been a while, but getting school stuff together for 2 kids really took it's toll. To be quite honest, no one reads this anyway, so I'm not that concerned with keeping it up to date!

Sad news

Yesterday we came home from shopping to find our dog, Amber, couldn't walk. Amber is a 13 y/o chocolate lab. It is very sad. Her legs just won't hold her up. So I am taking her to the vet today. It will be hard b/c I cannot carry her well. I tried this morning to bring her out and my back is spasming. I'm praying for a good outcome, maybe steriods, but I think it may be the end.
We are very sad.

Ok, it's August 1st. Time for a whole new month of sweepstakes! Yesterday was crunch time making sure everything was entered before the July 31st expiration. I hope to see some wins trickling in within the next few weeks.
I'll update my list of wins.

Biking

I went for a bike ride with my neighbor today. I haven't been on my bike since last summer. Can I tell you that my legs are like jelly and my butt hurts? Well it does. Now my 3 y/o want me to go for a walk with her around the block. Ha! I can't even walk to the sofa.
Well that just goes to show you how out of shape I am. I guess this is a wake-up call to get moving. I've been doing well eating low carb and have lost about 10 lbs. I guess in order to lose more I need to get moving. Perhaps this is the motivation I need.

On another note, I have decided to send my 9 y/o to public school. I homeschool my 11 y/o and will continue. It just seemed the right choice for the younger one to be sent to school. The schools here are outstanding so I'm confident he will do well.

I should go vegetate on the sofa till the feeling returns to my legs!

What to do? How do I get my 3 y/o and my 9 y/o to stop fighting?? I try to keep them away from each other, but is that pratical? My 9 y/o is the middle child an struggles for attention. The 3 y/o is a girl and gets attention easily. I've asked them not to touch each other ever. That doesn't work. I ask them to get me if they have a disagreement. They don't. They can't even look at each other. I'm at a loss.
